Here at The Bunny Hutch we are proud that our boss is quiet, well-mannered and covered in fur. Lord Roland Watson Beldon Maxwell VIII (“Jr.”to his friends) was born the runt of his litter, but now tips the scales at 25 pounds!
Jr.’s father holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest bunny in the world (they measure by length to prevent overfeeding). It is unlikely that Jr. will ever catch up to his father, who weighs over 50 pounds, but he is the BIGGEST bunny in the U.S. as far as we know!
Born in Worcester, England on November 11, 2014, Junior was donated to The Bunny Hutch’s founder, Max, when he was 12 weeks old. Junior is a Continental Giant, a breed usually only found in the U.K.
He is a total diva who loves rides in his stroller, hopping around his fenced in yard, and, of course, snacking! Every week, Jr. eats $50 worth of timothy hay, green vegetables, apples, carrots, and rabbit kibble. The interns and volunteers here at CLIMATES-Rescue also enjoy sneaking him his favorite treats – goldfish crackers.
When Jr. isn’t busy attending events as an animal ambassador or entertaining visitors touring CLIMATES-Rescue’s facility in Virginia Beach, he is sharing his daily life through Instagram. He also has a passion for children’s literacy and loves to visit local libraries and school so the kids can read to him.
Jr is a celebrity! Check out his press mentions here.
